MJF "Can't Wait To Leave" AEW

The Salt of the Earth turns up the heat on those AEW/WWE rumours.

MJF provided soundbites aplenty during a recent appearance on Barstool Sports' Rasslin' show, telling host Brandon Walker that, amongst other things, he "can't wait to leave" All Elite Wrestling.

With his long-term pro wrestling future currently up the air amidst recent reports of contract-related frustrations, MJF, who rarely (if ever) speaks out of character, let loose when asked about the situation.

Claiming that he is going to make more money than Matt and Jeff Hardy combined when his new contract comes through in 2024, MJF said that he didn't care about ruffling feathers in AEW by speaking on his future (h/t WrestleTalk):-

“Let me explain something to you, by 2024, daddy is going to make more money than The Hardys have made in their entire run. Once you get into Long Island, you don’t want to leave Long Island, so what does it matter if the traffic is bad coming out? I can’t wait to leave this company, how about that. Oh no, hope that doesn’t ruffle any feathers in the office, oh no. Who said AEW? I didn’t say AEW, you just said AEW, maybe I did, maybe I didn’t. Maybe I’m in a sh*t mood, maybe I hate my boss, maybe I fu***ng love my boss, who knows?”

Continuing, MJF played up the idea that his frustrations stem from earning less money than some wrestlers who have come into AEW after him, citing his situation as proof that somebody in the office has an issue with him:-

“I think there’s a lot of stuff going on in this company that is inaccurate. I think all these ex-fu***ng WWE guys that are making an absurd amount of money. When quite frankly they can’t sniff my fu***ng jock when it comes to the ratings I pull in whenever I am on screen, I think they can all go to hell. I think that somebody in the upper management has a problem with me, and it’s very obvious if you see what I am dealing with week to week.”

MJF is believed to be angling for a bigger payday after falling behind on the scale since signing for AEW in 2019, with the likes of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole all leaping up the card shortly after joining the promotion. The latest reporting on the situation suggests that Tony Khan would be willing to consent to a payrise should MJF agree to an extension.

Whether or not this will come to fruition before MJF's current deal expires in 2024 is anyone's guess.
