Moose To Replace Alex Shelley In Impact Hard To Kill Main Event
Former X Division Champion won't be travelling to Nashville for the pay-per-view.
In an unavoidable change, Moose will now team with Rich Swann and Chris Sabin to battle The Good Brothers and the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega at Impact Wrestling's Hard To Kill pay-per-view.
Impact management announced the news via their Twitter account. Impact executive vice president Scott D'Amore was informed late on Thursday evening that Shelley would be unable to travel to Nashville for the pay-per-view, leaving the EVP with the task of securing a new partner for Swann and Sabin.
On choosing Moose, D'Amore had the following to say:
When we got the news from Alex there was no question what we needed to do. Extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures – I personally contacted Moose and he accepted the match immediately. I know Rich Swann in particular has his issues with Moose. but this is time to put personal issues and egos aside.
It's unquestionably a massive blow to what was arguably the most important match in Impact history. The story that had been brewing between the two sides, both on Impact programming and, most recently, on AEW Dynamite, was superb.
The current TNA World Heavyweight Champion had recently been granted a World Championship opportunity by Rich Swann at Genesis, so theoretically, their rivalry should continue to develop here.
It's just a shame we're not getting the intended main event on top of that.
