Much Missed AEW Tag Team Set For Return?

Latest details on one of AEW's long-missing tag teams - and a potential comeback.

Santana Ortiz
AEW

Santana has been cleared to return to AEW, though rumours of a potential reunion with estranged former tag team partner Ortiz appear to be wide of the mark - for now.

Fightful Select reports that Santana has been given the green light to return after over a year out of action. The 32-year-old has been out since tearing his ACL in last year's Blood & Guts match (29 June), but is now ready to go again, having spent the past couple of months teasing a comeback on social media.

A reunion with former partner Ortiz may not be on the card, however. It was reported prior to Santana's injury that the duo had fallen out, hence their lack of tag team bouts since February 2022, effectively ending their tandem after 11 years together. A few weeks ago, speculation that Ortiz and Santana had patched things up caught steam on social media.

Fightful reports, however, that Santana and Ortiz "were still not on good terms" at the time Santana was cleared. It isn't completely impossible that they may work together in the future, though it doesn't sound like the situation has been mended.

Talk of Ortiz appearing on Sunday's All In show has picked up steam in recent weeks. The 31-year-old was pulled from a Limitless Wrestling show due to AEW obligations, though there is no word on what his All In role may be if added.
