Neville Says "Mighty Mouse" Gimmick Rumours Were False

But he still ended up as a toned down superhero with a cape...

WWE superstar Neville has denied reports that previously linked him with adopting a Mighty Mouse type gimmick. Speaking to the Podnasty Podcast, the "Man That Gravity Forgot" said;
"There's no truth in actually. I guess I was just more surprised than anything. Sometimes you get the wildest things just pop up and that was one of those things that it was funny at the time I guess."
In the run up to Neville getting a spot on the main roster, rumours persisted that WWE creative were keen for him to debut as a superhero type character who would dress up in essentially a Mighty Mouse costume. The idea was that since he's a shorter wrestler that has an impressive physique but noticeable ears, he had strong resemblance to the Mighty Mouse character, which reports suggested WWE thought would get him over. The story seemingly didn't come without foundation as an infamous news tidbit of the 90s suggested that Vince McMahon was keen to use Chris Candido as a Mighty Mouse type superhero.
Thankfully it never happened for Candido and neither for Neville, the only real change for his transition from NXT to the main roster is dropping the "Adrian" part of his ring-name and giving him a purple cape, which was a lot more downplayed than it could have been.
