New Details On Aleister Black's Continued Absence From WWE TV
A backstage update on Aleister Black, who hasn't wrestled for WWE since October 2020...
Aleister Black is currently dealing with some minor injuries during his time away from WWE television.
This is according to Dave Meltzer, who revealed as much during the mailbag section of yesterday's Wrestling Observer Radio. The specific nature of Black's injuries wasn't disclosed - and neither was an expected recovery time.
Black's ailments aren't the sole reason for his ongoing absence. Meltzer attributed Black, Andrade, Murphy, and co. losing their WWE pushes to Paul Heyman's removal as Raw Executive Director last year, saying none of that group is amongst Vince McMahon's "favourites."
Aleister hasn't wrestled on WWE television since losing to Kevin Owens on the 12 October 2020 episode of Raw. He was sent to SmackDown as part of the 2020 WWE Draft on that same night, but is yet to feature for his new brand.
November 2020 saw Black's wife, Zelina Vega, released from WWE for "breach of contract" after not adhering to the company's new policy banning independent activity on third-party platforms, denying their contractors of potentially lucrative revenue streams.
Meltzer has previously stated that unless Vince suddenly decides he likes Black, Aleister won't make it back onto television.
