No, it had nothing to do with fan backlash to THAT "Bobby Ashley" interview.

WWE's decision to release writer Kenice Mobley last Friday appears to have had nothing to do with fan backlash to her now-infamous appearance on the Asian Not Asian podcast.

This is according to Fightful Select, whose sources state that WWE writers are discouraged from speaking openly on what the job entails. Mobley did precisely that on the podcast, claiming that WWE didn't require her to have any wrestling knowledge before taking the job, calling WWE Champion Bobby Lashley "Bobby Ashley", and making other flak-attracting comments ahead of assuming her position later this month.

Per the report, the way Mobley spoke about the business left multiple WWE staff members and wrestlers feeling disrespected.

Writers often sign a non-disclosure agreement preventing them from divulging the kind of information Mobley spoke about. Whether or not Mobley had an NDA is currently unclear, however.

In addition, it is stated what while writers joining the creative team without wrestling knowledge isn't anything new, people in that situation typically put the effort in to address that.

Mobley was let go by WWE on the same day the company released 14 NXT and 205 Live wrestlers in its latest round of roster cuts.
