New Japan Has "No Plans" To Broadcast In The United States

Bad news for fans who enjoyed New Japan's output on AXS TV...

NJPW America

New Japan Pro Wrestling released a short statement on its global Twitter account this weekend revealing that there were currently "no plans" in place to air company output on US TV in 2020. This is a hammer blow to anyone who has enjoyed NJPW content on AXS TV in the United States since 2014.

It's also a confusing follow up to news that dropped about the next big step in New Japan's American expansion this past October.

Impact Wrestling's parent company Anthem has just purchased a majority share in AXS TV, so that's being cited as one possible reason for New Japan's sudden cancellation. The promotion had been airing matches with English commentary on the network for five years.

In the same tweet announcing there'd be no US TV next year, New Japan took the chance to plug their own NJPW World on demand service. Anyone who fancies seeing more from organisation would be well-advised to sign up.

Plans are still in place for New Japan to host live events in North America. Some of these cards are likely to be broadcast to NJPW World subscribers.
