New TNA: 5 Things That Work (And 5 That Don't)

3. Half The Remaining Roster Just Turned Heel...

SPOILERS €“ Read on at your peril. This section contains a reference to events that have yet to air on UK TV. The first broadcast of the new TNA contained something of a surprise (or it would have, if it hadn€™t aired on tape delay following a series of spoilers on Facebook, Twitter and all the wrestling rags), as effectively half the babyface locker room suddenly turned heel on TNA Champion Bobby Roode. Little, if any, reasoning was provided as to why Samoa Joe and Low Ki would align themselves with the villainous MVP and Kenny King, especially after Joe in particular had demonstrated such a fiery hatred of all things MVP, but there it was. Then, later on that same night, plucky fan-favourite Eric Young got in on the act as well, by demolishing his best friend Bobby Roode with a steel chair and costing him the TNA World Title in the process. Presumably, the move was made so that TNA Champion Lashley (who upended Roode following Young€™s betrayal) would have the deck stacked against him as he valiantly defended his title (a title that he has now dropped to Kurt Angle...So the point exactly was what?) in the wake of an outnumbering onslaught, but the effect wasn€™t really felt that strongly, as TNA tapings have been dominated by the heel stable of MVP, Lashley and Kenny King for months now anyway and the fans are used to it.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
