New WWE NXT Women's Tag Team Titles Revealed
Kai and Gonzalez were crowned the first NXT Women's Tag Team Champions, but there was a twist!
WWE NXT General Manager unveiled new NXT Women's Tag Team Champions on last night's show, bringing the women's roster to the ring for the grand reveal, before presenting Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez with the straps.
This comes following a screwjob finish in last week's WWE Women's Tag Team Title match pitting Kai and Gonzalez against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. Jax and Baszler retained when the NXT referee was knocked out, prompting Adam Pearce to dash out with a Raw official, who awarded a submission win over Kai despite Dakota not being the legal woman.
Regal then promised a game-changing announcement, teasing it would have something to do with the women's tag scene. Last night, he delivered, gifting Kai and Gonzalez the belts.
Unfortunately for Dakota and Raquel, there has already been a title change. Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart got in the new champs' faces to set up a rematch of their recent Women's Dusty Rhodes Classic finals, which the heels won. With the gold on the line, Blackheart and Moon prevailed, with Shotzi pinning Kai. The first champions' reign lasted less than an hour.
Nonetheless, the NXT Women's Tag Team Titles are now in play.
