With Vince McMahon and WWE famous for having always tried to present their superstars as larger than life, there now comes an interesting new update on a new WWE policy designed to make talent appear taller.

As per the the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there's a new WWE directive in place for the company to look to hire shorter referees. Of course, if stood in-ring next to a short ref, wrestlers will naturally appear tall or, as WWE hopes, comes across as taller than they actually are.

Whether it's exaggerated weight and height billing, camera angles, having wrestlers stand on raised platforms, or even having backstage interviewers take off their shoes, McMahon's sports entertainment behemoth has often tried numerous tricks to make their performers look bigger than they are.

On the flip side of this, there were stories of certain WCW wrestlers - notably Randy Savage - who didn't like to have Nick Patrick officiating their matches, for Patrick's 6'2" frame would make the wrestlers in question look shorter.

For those wondering, a few examples of the height of current WWE referees are John Cone at 5'9", Jessika Carr at 5'8" and Charles Robinson at 5'6".
