New WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Crowned On Raw

Did Sky & Kai fulfill their destiny, or did Raquel & Aliyah shock the world?

In what can easily be described as a shock, Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah are your new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, defeating tournament favorites Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky on Raw Monday night.

The SmackDown superstars won in surprising fashion, handing Bayley's still-unnamed faction their first loss since arriving on the scene at SummerSlam. As with their semi-final win, Raquel fought large segments of the match alone with Aliyah incapacitated on the outside.

The win was not without controversy though, as Aliyah scored the rollup via a blind tag on Kai -- who was not the legal competitor for her team. There's a good chance this will be followed up on, with the referee acknowledging a blind tag on one team and losing track of who was legal for the other team.

The women's tag titles had been vacant since mid-May when then-champs Sasha Banks & Naomi walked out of Raw, handing over the titles. They haven't been seen in the company since, though the saga of their rumored releases and returns have bubbled up almost weekly during the past three months.

Despite immediately announcing that a tournament would be held to crown new champs, it would take more than two months -- and Vince McMahon's departure -- to get the eight-team tourney going.
