Rob Gronkowski is on the verge of signing a WWE contract.

This was the biggest piece of news to emerge from last night's episode of WWE Backstage, with Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin stating that the promotion was in advanced talks with the former NFL star. While there's no word on what kind of role Gronk would be signing on for, it's believed that he is very, very close to agreeing to a WWE contract, thus making him one of (if not the) biggest sportsmen to ever cross over into Sports Entertainment.

Gronkowski's made a notable appearance on the WrestleMania 33 Kickoff Show, where he hopped the barricade to help his pal Mojo Rawley take the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. His name has been continually linked to WWE ever since, particularly after he retired from the NFL in March 2019, and it looks like the 30-year-old is finally on his way.

Known primarily for his big, bold personality, Gronkowski should fit in well in this environment and brings obvious name value to the table. Though he has never wrestled before, this is a considerable coup for WWE when they really needed one.
