NJPW G1 Climax 2018, Week 3: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Minoru Suzuki Vs. Michael Elgin (27 July)

Tomohrio Ishii Kota Ibushi
NJPW

Rating: ****

The two most consistent performers in A Block delivered a stirring exhibition of their best bits, with Michael Elgin ensuring hot hot heat for a finishing sequence driven mostly by ‘The King’s bloodlust for his battered and bruised right arm.

Minoru Suzuki was relentless on Elgin’s injured limb despite his pre-match promos related to Elgin’s “pig neck”. ‘Big Mike’ showed guts (and full artistic range with his selling), but Suzuki’s hatred-fuelled submission game was simply too great for the Canadian to overcome.
