NJPW G1 Climax 2018, Week 3: Every Match Ranked From Worst To Best

2. Kenny Omega Vs. SANADA (28 July)

Tomohrio Ishii Kota Ibushi
NJPW

Rating: ****3/4

There's something magic about Kenny Omega summoning extra energy when he looks at his weakest. Dripping in perspiration with confidence literally draining out of his frazzled frame, the IWGP Champion was far from a picture of health as his main event with a shining SANADA entered its final stages, but 'The Best Bout Machine's deployment of his still-indestructible One Winged Angel was again enough to keep his maximum tally in tact.

Omega's damaged heel remains a source of some concern, but it didn't stop him performing runs and dives with all the usual snaps and skips. Few understand the work of pro wrestling right now more so than Omega, regardless of whether he's working through the pain or simply working its severity.
