A welcome surprise was hearing that recently injured Juice Robinson would be returning to Japan and making it to another G1 Climax event. Robinson is a naturally beloved babyface and has become a remarkably good wrestler in recent years.

Robinson will be able to pick up the momentum of his months of absence within his first entrance, but is unlikely to be pushed as a potential top champion in NJPW just yet considering his months of absence and the lack of a narrative hook between himself and Naito.

Another problem that Juice faces is the injury he recently suffered. Any long time fans of NJPW know that the last time Juice participated in a G1 Climax tournament with an injury, he was booked to lose most of his matches even as the IWGP United States Champion, and his rush to quickly recover for the G1 doesn’t inspire faith that much will change there for him.

Juice is ridiculously over with Japanese audiences, one of the most popular men in the entire company, and a win can’t be ruled out in his future. But right now, he doesn’t have the correct momentum to pull off this monumental win.
