Fans who were looking forward to New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Dynasty show in Madison Square Garden, New York City will need to wait another year.

Wednesday evening saw the promotion announce that the big event had been postponed until 2021. They are yet to confirm a precise date or ticketing information, though this will be forthcoming.

Per NJPW's official statement, this is a response to the ongoing global health crisis, with the promotion "extremely appreciative of all our great fans worldwide." They state that "the health and safety of wrestlers, staff, fans, and society at large is our utmost priority," but they "hope to be back in the ring in the near future."

Wrestle Dynasty was originally set to go down in MSG on 22 August. Tickets sales were supposed to begin in April but were pushed back to 13 May prior to yesterday's announcement.

Postponing Wrestle Dynasty feels like the right move, as NJPW once again prove themselves the smartest and most considerate wrestling promotion through all of this, having not held a single empty arena show since the crisis kicked in. More power to them - it's clear they won't rush back.
