Could this former NJPW champion soon be on his way to WWE?

A recent appearance on Wrestling Observer Live saw David Finlay drop several hints on his wrestling future, building on existing talk of him swapping NJPW for WWE.

Finlay's points largely hinted at NXT. He revealed that he is moving to Florida (where WWE's black and gold brand is based), would love to wrestle upcoming TakeOver main-eventer Kyle O'Reilly, and wants to train under Shawn Michaels, who works at the Performance Center.

On top of this, Finlay said that he doesn't know what his wrestling future looks like and isn't hopeful about the world opening back up post-pandemic, which is a huge hindrance to foreign wrestlers competing in New Japan at the moment. He also claimed to prefer the American style of wrestling to the Japanese style.

David's dad, Fit Finlay, recently told Gerald Brisco and John Bradshaw Layfield that his son doesn't know what his next career move will be, suggesting that he might want to "try" WWE.

Finlay is primarily competing for IMPACT Wrestling right now, having elected to stay in the US rather than travelling back to Japan. He and Juice Robinson had a two-month reign as Tag Team Champions in the Anthem-helmed promotion earlier this year.
