NWA Announce Weekly TV Show Starting In October

Billy Corgan makes HUGE statement on the NWA's future.

The National Wrestling Alliance has undergone a mini-resurgence since Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan took control of the directionless, legendary organisation in 2017, with collaborations with AEW (Cody vs. Nick Aldis at All In) and Ring Of Honor (this year's Crockett Cup) helping restore some of the group's lost lustre.

Now, it looks like the NWA are on the verge of unleashing their own weekly show.

This is according to Corgan in a video uploaded to the NWA's YouTube channel last night. He states that tapings will commence on 30 September and 1 October in Atlanta, Georgia, and while no venue has been announced, it sounds like they're going for an old-school studio approach.

Recent weeks have seen the NWA end their relationship with ROH, which probably means we've seen the last of Aldis, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, on Ring Of Honor's weekly show. Perhaps Corgan's announcement was the reason for this all along?

Scoring an actual TV deal will likely prove the biggest challenge in all of this. Failure to do so would mean the NWA being forced to seek an alternative distribution method, though it'll still be interesting to see what they can produce.
