NWO Twenty Years Later: Where Are They Now?

12. Barry Windham

Windham's association with WCW was long and fruitful, but his tenure in the nWo was not.

Coming at the tail-end of an impressive career that had been latterly curtailed by a series of knee injuries, Windham offered little to a stable long past their sell-by-date.

Windham had been welcomed back into the WCW fold by Eric Bischoff following his largely forgettable run as The Stalker and a New Blackjack in WWF. Originally foil for WCW, in a promotion already overflowing with ageing stars from the past, Windham struggled to make any new impact.

Probably the most memorable part of his final WCW run was as part of the dreadful West Texas Redneck's feud with rap advocates the No Limit Soldiers. The angle was a disaster for WCW, as the promotion's largely southern audience opted to rally behind the country music aficionados - the intended villains of the piece.

That his turn as a member of a fake country music band was more noteworthy than his nWo run highlights just how utterly insignificant the majority of the group's members had become by 1998.

In 2011, Windham suffered a massive heart attack and was said to be clinging to his life by a thread. Thankfully, he pulled through the health scare, and is today still recovering whilst mentoring two of WWE's current stars named in honour of he and his brother - Windham 'Bray Wyatt' Rotuna and Kendall 'Bo Dallas' Rotunda.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
