NXT Ring Ropes Break During Florida Live Event

The ring just couldn't hold the NXT wrestlers in Daytona Beach.

The WWE NXT roster was in Daytona Beach, Florida for a routine house show this Saturday (19 October), and while the card itself wasn't particularly newsworthy, the event has made headlines for a major ring malfunction during a bout between Arturo Ruas and Tehuti Miles.

The duo were competing in just the fourth match of the evening. Unfortunately, it looks like the top rope gave way while Miles and Ruas were competing, though there's no indication of what, exactly, caused the problem.

Here are some images and commentary on the situation from several attendees:-

While this won't go down as the most famous example of the ring ropes malfunctioning during the match, it has drawn attention to a show that would have gained barely a slither of coverage without it.

Lords of Pain's live report suggests that this was very much a B-tier house show. Regular TV performers like Fabian Aichner, Marcel Barthel, Mia Yim, Io Shirai, and Keith Lee were in the house, but the bulk of NXT's biggest stars were missing, and there were boatloads of unused Performance Center athletes peppered throughout the evening - many of whom haven't debuted on TV yet.
