Result: Roode absolutely murdered Itami with two Glorious DDTs to retain the strap (17:34).

Rating: The fact this wasn't the main event made it resoundingly obvious Roode would retain, but that did little to dent the impact of one of the better NXT Title matches in recent memory.

Though it arguably ran just a little too long, the ring psychology and selling were fantastic throughout, and Itami came out looking fantastic in defeat, with the GTS being thoroughly protected while Roode had to double up the finish just to keep him down.

The two clearly have great chemistry and managed to combine their differing styles into an incredibly slick and well-paced match that's probably Roode's best work in NXT to date.

And props to the crowd for booing down those ill-advised CM Punk chants every time they started up. 8/10
