NXT TakeOver In Your House: 10 Things That Must Happen

3. Adam Cole Stays NXT Champ (For Now)

The pre-match stip going in says that Velveteen Dream will never (everrrrrrrr) get another crack at Adam Cole's NXT Title if he loses their 'Backlot Brawl'. Peel back the kayfabe, perform a quick Google search and you'll see news that Cole's WWE contract is coming up for renewal this summer. That's interesting, but will it play into results this weekend?

Not yet. Hopefully.

Cole has just passed the one-year mark as champ. He's been a blessing to NXT as a brand, and it'd be a shame to see him end his run in an empty arena or cinematic setting. Rather than doing that, WWE should hold off for now, try to convince him to re-sign a fatter deal and then put Keith Lee, not Velveteen Dream, over him later this year.

Lee has the chops to replace Cole as NXT Champion and replicate his success, albeit as a babyface. He's someone the company can pin their hopes to for a while on Wednesdays. Besides, if Cole is Raw or SmackDown bound, then it's about time Dream was too.
