A glorious event.

Presenting just a handful of matches, WWE officials scheduled only five bouts for NXT TakeOver: Toronto. Professional wrestling was the sole focal point for this one, management gave every encounter room to breathe inside the ring. The result was one of the most solid cards the promotion have presented all year, including on the main roster.

In addition to the final match in the Dusty Rhodes Tag-Team Classic, two title changes occurred on the show. One was greeted with almost muted surprise from the live audience in Canada, whereas the other took that same audience on a ride few in attendance will ever forget. Cheerfully, both title switches count out as awesome moments.

There were many at TakeOver: Toronto, the brand's writing team really know how to keep their audience invested. It's a credit to NXT that even when top names like Bayley, American Alpha and others have left, there's enough depth to plug the gaps.

Title changes, amazing entrances and even shark cages all feature here. Let's dip into TakeOver and see all the awesome moments WWE had on tap in Toronto...

It shouldn't be lost on anybody that Survivor Series weekend is happening in Canada this year. Longtime fans will never forget the 1997 iteration of the event, one infamous for including the now-legendary 'Montreal Screwjob'. Corey Graves was quick to draw attention to this on commentary at NXT TakeOver: Toronto.

WWE simply cannot enter Canada without talk of the screwjob, mainly because it exists as one of the promotion's most memorable moments in the country. Thankfully, there are others, and the typically-brilliant production team wanted to highlight some of them during TakeOver's grand opening.

The video packages WWE create for pay-per-view events always sparkle, even more so when they acknowledge history. WrestleMania VI in the SkyDome was mentioned, sitting alongside the 1997 Survivor Series in WWE's scrapbook of memories.

Overall, the opening montage put over Canada's impact on the organisation extremely well. Deftly, the production crew then switched to talk of how NXT would forge a new path. This is a strongpoint with the brand, management always make sure to put it over.
