NXT Vs. AEW: Head To Head
8. Tag Team Roster
NXT’s Tag Team division is thin.
The Undisputed Era are incredible doyens. They work matches carrying themselves as the best tag team in the world so well that their opponents (Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch, most notably) get over in defeat just by escaping their formidable ability to control matches. The Street Profits are better than mere sentimental favourites, though the act needs refinement. The Forgotten Sons is the biggest self-own of a ring name since Mr. Ass. Breezango are fun, but they’re not stealing any TakeOver cards. Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel are very talented, but aren’t particularly interesting.
AEW’s Tag Team division is loaded already.
The Young Bucks are the most spectacular and psychologically rich team—the best team—on the planet. The Lucha Brothers aren’t as complete an act, but their best work is jaw-dropping. SCU are an affable and super-dependable veteran presence. Bray Wyatt’s update on the supernatural gimmick has rendered the Dark Order anachronistic, but they are a great tag team with a dynamic as excellent as their chemistry. Private Party are raw as hell but promising as a crossover act. The Best Friends are a great babyface act for the millennial generation who organically tap into bromance chemistry. Jack Evans and Angelico are spot monkeys, but they’re great at it.
A Boy & His Dinosaur are so charming an act that even Jim Cornette likes them. Jim Cornette likes a literal cosplay wrestler and a guy who doesn’t radiate an ounce of toughness.
