NXT Women's Breakout Tournament Finals Bumped To Next Week
Tiffany Stratton versus Roxanne Perez was scheduled for Tuesday but was a no-go.
Well, it does say "card subject to change," but you would've thought NXT could have kept their booking plans locked for more than one day.
After being announced for Tuesday's episode of NXT 2.0, the Women's Breakout Tournament final between Tiffany Stratton and Roxanne Perez mysteriously didn't take place and was bumped back a week. Instead, NXT aired two well-produced video packages for both finalists tracing their routes to this point in their careers.
Perez, the former Rok-C, has played the role of a plucky underdog since debuting on TV, but she's also picked up wins over Toxic Attraction's Jacy Jayne and in the first two rounds of the tournament (over Kiana James and Lash Legend). She's also had a solid battle with NXT Women's Champion Mandy Rose.
Stratton is clearly the greener of the two, though she has legit athletic chops. The daddy's girl wrestler weaselled her way into the tourney to replace an injured Nikita Lyons, who had to be a favorite to win the entire thing. Tiffany bested Fallon Henley in the semi-finals to advance to next week's finals.
The winner of the tournament will receive an NXT Women's Championship match. Champ Rose has held the title since Halloween Havoc, more than seven months ago. She's slated to defend the strap against Wendy Choo at In Your House this weekend.
