Omos Set For Shocking WWE WrestleMania 38 Match?

Giant undefeated in singles action, but could face tall task at Mania.

Weeks of Omos threatening the WWE Raw roster in the lead-up to WrestleMania 38 could have a pretty big payoff.

Monday, Wrestlevotes tweeted that the colossus is indeed getting a singles match at Mania. But Fightful Select has now reported that "as of this weekend, the planned opponent was former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley."

This news is shocking on a couple of different levels. Lashley has not really competed in a match since January's Royal Rumble, when he lost his WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar, when he was injured. Lashley was technically in the Elimination Chamber match last month, but he was taken out before he could enter the contest.

In storyline, WWE said the All Mighty entered concussion protocol and then never emerged from it, missing a planned title rematch at a Madison Square Garden house show. In reality, it's been reported that Lashley had suffered a shoulder injury. Initial reports suggested he could be out for a while, missing Mania, but it looks like that's moot.

Omos has been on a bit of a run lately, defeating T-Bar, Apollo Crews and Commander Azeez during the past three weeks, and then toppling Apollo and Azeez in a handicap match on Monday.

This would certainly be a challenge... for Lashley. Omos hasn't exactly gotten more proficient in the ring during the past year, so it almost certainly would fall on Lashley to guide the Colossus through a match in front of the largest live audience he's competed before.

Fightful noted that it has not gained confirmation that Lashley has been cleared for action, so this is obviously tentative until we see the graphic.
