One MIND-BLOWING Secret For Every WWE SummerSlam

25. 2001 | A Second Storyline For WHO?!

Undertaker Sara
WWE

In one of the worst and most destructive storyline developments ever, Diamond Dallas Page was revealed to be the stalker of the Undertaker’s wife Sara. In addition to the obvious plot hole - many fans would have sold a kidney for Kimberly Page to look at them in disgust - Sara was an astonishingly poor wrestling actress. She developed rigor mortis whenever she was called upon to bump, and the sight of her putting up the dukes made Eva Marie look like Dump Matsumoto. She was so poorly equipped in the art of performance that she practically muttered every line. Incredibly, the WWF thought it would be a capital idea to book Sara in a second storyline. What?

She was absolutely horrendous. She was the worst person to work onscreen with the Undertaker, and the Undertaker feuded with Giant Gonzalez.

And yet, according to the May 28, 2001 issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were plans for Steve Austin and the Undertaker to work a match at SummerSlam on the back of a programme “involving both men’s wives”. Again: what?

Debra was the worst part of the WrestleMania 17 build. Sara was the worst part of the Invasion. Any time a wrestler defends the honour of their wife is cringeworthy in the extreme. This might have been the worst thing to happen to wrestling in 2001, just edging out a WWE monopoly for the top spot.

Sara almost worked double the amount of storylines as several ECW and WCW wrestlers. That’s mental. How was the Invasion storyline almost worse?!
