One WWE Match You MUST Watch From Every Year 1984-2024

10. 2014 - The Shield Vs The Wyatt Family, Elimination Chamber

The Shield Wyatts
WWE

A time-jump from their debut against Ryback and Team Hell No in every respect, The Shield's Elimination Chamber 2014 brawl with The Wyatt Family was at very least the best match the latter group ever had and might also get the gold medal for the 'Hounds Of Justice' too.

It came at a time when The Shield were closer to their end than their beginning, but the storyline that found them in-fighting at the time ultimately wasn't the actual one that tore them apart. They had a post-WrestleMania run against Evolution to get through first, but here they were paying forward their credibility earned in 2012 on a new trifecta that needed the rub.

Wyatt tried to use the dissension as a head game, but as the bout wore on it was apparent that The Shield weren't about to let their internal troubles get in the way of a night at the office. But a sharp and stark finish showed the cracks beneath the surface; after a brawl spilled into the crowd, Seth Rollins wasn't able to save Dean Ambrose from a Bray Wyatt onslaught. Then, when a fallen Roman Reigns was left laying by Erick Rowan, he couldn't be there to save Rollins from being double chokeslammed through a table. He was left in a three-on-one against The Wyatts, suffering the fate he'd forced upon many during The Shield's dominance.

Epic in content and delivery, this was the vision of a future WWE that never materialised. But in the present, it had real power.

Of note, Elimination Chamber 2014 was the last traditional pay-per-view in WWE history ahead of the official launch of the Network just weeks later. The six men ensured the last of a crumbling audience got their money's worth.
