Owen - Hart Of Gold DVD Review: 14 Things You Should Know

6. Post-Montreal Owen In WWF

Bret Hart has always come across as brutally honest in his interviews, but somewhere along the way he seems to have changed his story. After The Montreal Screwjob, the story told by Bret Hart, Dave Meltzer and others was that Owen wanted out of his contract after the company screwed Bret at the Survivor Series but you wouldn't know that by watching the documentary.

It€™s almost nauseating to watch Triple H talk about how Owen was one of the first guys He and Shawn Michaels spoke to at TV with Owen saying he loved working there and wanted to stay and make some money. Given that Owen didn€™t come back to WWF TV for a month and never really seemed as happy in the WWF after Montreal, I€™d call BS on Triple H€™s re-telling of the story.

The most bizarre thing is that Bret Hart now agrees with The Game. Bret now maintains that "He didn't really wanna go, he only was gonna go for me". Owen€™s older brother Ross also joins in with the fictional banter saying €œ"He was conflicted for sure, but his heart was with the WWE". Gimme a break.

This section was disappointing because it€™s clearly a WWE narrative, replacing the actual events of what actually happened with Owen Hart and how he wanted to leave the company and changing them to paint a picture of a happy-go-lucky Owen who just loved going to work for the company that publicly screwed his big brother over.
