Payback - John Cena Defeats Sheamus
A furious Sheamus will fume with excuses on Raw, calling his loss to Lesnar unfair and demanding a rematch. That will earn the attention of John Cena, who will gladly remind Sheamus that in WWE, opportunities are earned. Stewing, Sheamus will back down from Cena, but in Raw's main event, he'll attack the leader of the Cenation, bringing an early end to a match with Dolph Ziggler. Sheamus will pummel Cena brutally, and in response, the main event of Payback will be signed - Cena versus Sheamus, with the winner named number one contender to Brock Lesnar's WWE Championship. It's been years since Cena and Sheamus have had a major match, and with Sheamus more seasoned than before, the bout will easily outdo their 2009-2010 encounters. Sheamus will attack Cena, overwhelming him with a hard brawling style and feeling a title shot within his grasp, but Cena will hold on and fight back, hitting Sheamus with a Five Knuckle Shuffle and a top rope legdrop. Sheamus will come back with the White Noise and gear up for the Brogue Kick, but in a scene reminiscent of Extreme Rules, Cena will duck it and hit an AA. After that, he'll lock in the STF and Sheamus will be forced to tap out, setting up Cena-Lesnar at Battleground.
