WWE loves itself some crossover promotion, and has long flirted with the idea of working with the Four Horsewomen of MMA. Whilst Ronda Rousey isn't going to be locking up with Zhao Xia in the first round of the Mae Young Classic, there is every chance that Shayna Baszler may well find herself in the tournament.

Baszler made the transition to professional wrestling back in 2015, and she took part in a WWE tryout in 2016. Nikki Bella famously recruited Baszler to train her ahead of her return from neck surgery, meaning Baszler has the history and the contacts to make a real splash in the Mae Young Classic.

The Mae Young Classic is going to feature women from all over the world wrestling a mass of different styles - the MMA background of Baszler would be a fascinating part of it.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
