It is extremely unlikely that Manami Toyota will enter the Mae Young Classic, but many said the same thing about Kota Ibushi and the Cruiserweight Classic. Toyota is widely considered to be one of the all-time greats, if not the all-time greatest. She is retiring at the beginning of November, and an appearance in the MYC would be a much deserved feather in Toyota's cap.

Toyota brings star power and a legitimacy that no other professional wrestler on the planet can bring to this tournament. Whoever defeats her will be a ready-made star, and seeing Toyota strut her stuff on the WWE Network can only be good for all sides.

Thomas Holzerman has pointed out that WWE has a chance to book the '90s dream match that never happened, so let's do it - start the tournament of the future off with the best of the past, as Manami Toyota goes up against Alundra Blayze. It would be a magical way to kick things off.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
