Time for some honesty: It's a real struggle to care about some of the belts on the NXT show; there's an air of how Tony Khan books AEW/ROH about them, almost like they're just sort of there rather than meaning anything. The tag straps definitely qualify here.
Tony D'Angelo and Channing Lorenzo are erm...less-than-thrilling in the role of champs. The good news is that WWE's latest Dusty Rhodes Classic will peak at Vengeance Day. There, yours truly expects Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams to overcome tension to beat Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker.
Afterwards, they can bag the belts then give Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson some purpose by working a short series against them after WrestleMania 40. Who knows? Maybe this eventually leads to Carmelo vs. AJ Styles on SmackDown, or something.
He's main roster bound for good eventually.
