Predicting The Future Of 10 NXT Stars
10. Tye Dillinger
I'm not trying to be cute here with this placement (okay...fine, maybe a little), because out of everyone on this list, Tye Dillinger likely has the least "perfect" future.
Dillinger first started in WWE’s developmental system in 2006. Before his big “10” Royal Rumble moment, he was best known on the main roster for a brief run as Gavin Spears in ECW. He was let go in 2009 and returned in 2013, where he has been a mainstay in NXT ever since...and that’s exactly where he shall stay.
Vince McMahon just doesn’t see anything in the guy, otherwise he would have already put him on the main roster. Triple H keeps him on-board, though, which makes sense for his developmental brand. The crowd at Full Sail really likes him. They appreciate his hard work and his never-give-up attitude, but the casual fan may not buy into him as much, because he’s not overly charismatic or flashy...except for his entrance.
Of course, Dillinger could emerge on SmackDown someday, but he would likely be positioned as a babyface Curt Hawkins-like guy. Basically he gets squashed by heels, and left lying outside of the ring while they cut a promo on their upcoming pay-per-view opponent. That’s about it. Unless Vince gives his son-in-law the blue brand for a birthday present, then Tye isn’t going to make the jump for a main roster run. If he does, he'll go from a perfect 10 to about a 3 out of 10 in no time at all.
Official prediction: Tye never makes it to the main roster full-time. He sticks it out in NXT for another year or two before moving into the role of a trainer or hitting up the independent scene.
