Two long time rivals finally colliding for the top title in the company. Sammy Guevara against Darby Allin is a ready-made feud. After having numerous matches on TV as well as their stellar match at AEW Revolution, it seems fitting that Sammy should be the one to take the belt away from Darby.
This victory can be used to not only propel Sammy to the top of the card, but also to continue the growing dissent in The Inner Circle. Particularly, this would be Jericho's growing jealousy of Sammy as he becomes more and more the centre piece of group.
The Inner Circle could help Sammy win the hard fought match, as Darby just comes up short. Then the final shot is very similar to the Batista/Triple H shot in WWE. Jericho just sizes up Sammy and that will eventually lead into the breakup of the group.
Sammy and Darby have proven that they can work well together and this match would just be the culmination of their story; as they are pushed to the forefront of the company and look to carry it on their shoulders for years to come.
