Speaking of former NXT Champions, Samoa Joe has come across as a true superstar since making the switch to the main roster. This isn’t a huge surprise, as the Samoan Submission Machine has long been one of the most talented professional wrestlers on the planet. All he needed was booking support, and he has largely received that on Monday Night RAW.

Samoa Joe and the WWE Intercontinental Championship seem like a match made in heaven. Champion after champion has spoken about bringing ‘prestige’ back to the title, but it is difficult to have any faith in that when performers like The Miz hold the belt. The current champion is a great talker, but he isn’t playing the same game as legendary IC Champions like Randy Savage, Bret Hart and Steve Austin.

Whether or not Samoa Joe is in that category is another debate, but he is a step closer to those hallowed days. A lengthy reign for Samoa Joe would be the best thing for both the performer and the title, provided he was allowed to defend the belt in lengthy competitive matches on a regular basis. There are more likely title changes included in this list, but this is the most necessary.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
