In what is rapidly becoming a hoss-flavoured WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2022, the reliable Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast has tweeted "Hearing Sid will be inducted in this year's WWE Hall of Fame".

Not that a brief assessment of a candidate's credentials matters - it's Vince McMahon's decision alone - Sid is an unforgettable character for fans of a certain age, and is as strong a B-tier inductee for WWE's Hall specifically as any.

A squash match extraordinaire - he was at his very best destroying hapless geeks in under two minutes - Sid was a World Champion in both WCW and the WWF. He jumped between the two majors frequently throughout the 1990s and was a major figure in both without ever drawing huge money for either on a consistent basis. A mercurial figure, he was never quite entrusted - ironically - to truly "rule" either promotion. But he was coveted by both, and often, for good reason: he was equipped with a colossus megastar look and an intense, inimitable aura. He wasn't particularly gifted at crafting classic matches - that is an understatement - but was such a badass that his presence was rewarded with several top-line pushes. The man was on fire in 1996, and reimagined the top WWE babyface role before Steve Austin did. He was the Master and Ruler of the world, and this questionable tautology was just one reason why he was so beloved, even if much of that love was ironic.

Fondly remembered also for his moments of onscreen and offscreen idiocy, his speech should be incredible.
