Ranking 10 Most Successful Wrestling Defections
9. The Hardy Boyz To WWE
While
WWE maintains its position as the only mainstream pro wrestling entity, there
are minor league operations still in existence that can provide for intriguing
defections. TNA, for example, has had its roster cherry-picked by Vince
McMahon, with several of WWE’s current top stars having paid their dues in the
struggling promotion. Although the Hardy Boyz built their reputation in
McMahonland, they reinvented themselves in TNA, becoming the most popular act
in the industry last year.
A
dispute (still ongoing) with TNA’s new management led to Broken Matt and
Brother Nero leaving the company earlier this year, inciting rumors that the
Hardyz would finish out their careers in the company where they began. Sure
enough, at WrestleMania 33, the Hardyz shocked the WWE Universe when they
entered a ladder match for the Raw Tag Team Championship, and won. Although
they’ve yet to revert to their “broken” characters, they’ve rejuvenated the tag
team division and done maximum damage to TNA.
