Like his former tag team partner, Ricochet had a weird journey this year.

After his tag team with Aleister Black dissolved after WrestleMania 35, Ricochet embarked on a successful singles career that led to him winning the United States Championship. However, he was beset by questionable booking, as he quickly lost the title, lost a feud to AJ Styles and muddled around the mid-card for much of the rest of the year.

Ricochet got several opportunities to showcase his unique talents, and really, the gripes about his booking center on how he could have been booked as a truly special performer, but instead has settled into the pack with the rest of the roster. It’s just disappointing to see an opportunity squandered like that.

Still, Ricochet has had a successful debut year when you compare it to his former NXT cohorts. Here’s hoping for bigger and better things in 2020.
