13. Clash Of Champions - The Interference That Never Comes

Clash Of Champions established the framework for every Raw-specific pay-per-view that followed: a fun night of action marred by oddball booking choices.

Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins fought for the Universal Championship in the main event. As is usually the case with Owens' title reign, the finish came through interference from both Chris Jericho and Stephanie McMahon, who hit ringside with a fresh referee following an ill-timed bump.

You can argue that Stephanie was just doing her duty as a boss, but would she have done the same if the situation was advantageous to Rollins, not Owens? Given her husband Triple H had only just screwed Rollins out of the title in the first place, this seems unlikely.

It was a terrible finish for Owens, who'd only won the belt thanks to Triple H's double-cross in the first place. Now, in his first big PPV defence, KO had once again profited from the actions of others. The major problem here, however, is that the crowd spent the entirety of the match waiting for a Triple H interference that never came. This put a serious dampener on what should've been an excellent match, and prevented the audience from really getting into it. It's a problem that follows Rollins around to this date, and won't go away until him and The Game finally settle their differences.
