8. WrestleMania II: Mr. T Versus ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper

A fixed boxing match? Perish the thought.

One year removed from being part of one of the most important wrestling matches in industry history (more on that later), Mr. T and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper hooked up in a boxing match at WrestleMania II.

The three-round bout tried to maintain a semblance of legitimacy until the final round, when they threw wild, almost comical haymakers at each other until Piper lost his cool and slammed Mr. T for the disqualification.

Still, this contest wasn’t about looking like a super-authentic boxing match. Mr. T. still was one of the biggest celebrities in the country at the time, and Piper was still playing the perfect villain. Their match was a nice callback to the first WrestleMania while adding a little spectacle to an otherwise dull event.
