Ranking All 20 WWE September PPVs – From Worst To Best

19. Night Of Champions 2013

Here is a Pay Per View that, while fine on its own, is doomed by the context it was placed in. The outcome of the main event had Daniel Bryan beat Randy Orton for the WWE Championship (Bryan€™s second). Referee Scott Armstrong gave a fast count (although it wasn€™t extremely fast), which ended up being a ploy to get the belt off Bryan the next night. Now, if this was all a plan to dangle the carrot in front of the fans who were salivating for a true Bryan reign with the belt, which would start at Wrestlemania, then this would be all good. But the creative team€™s original plan for Wrestlemania was to have Randy Orton vs. Batista, and Bryan would be relegated to the midcard against Sheamus. The fans rightly turned on the booking direction and essentially hijacked the show until the writers went in the direction they were supposed to go all along, but the mere fact that the WWE Universe wasn€™t originally going to get the carrot that the creative team was dangling is bad enough. The finish of Night of Champions 2013 out of context is fine, but in context, it leaves a bad taste in our mouths.
