If you had told circa 2017-18 NXT fans that DIY would be on the Raw roster in 2022 and Triple H would be running the show, you would assume that they would either be tag champs together or ripping it up fighting each other over a singles title.

But instead, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa came up as lackeys/sidekicks to Dexter Lumis and the Miz (respectively). Ciampa debuted inauspiciously, serving as the “already in the ring” competition who had promos cut off and was largely ignored under Vince McMahon’s reign. He would align himself with the Miz, serving as his understudy, constantly puffing up the Awesome One’s accomplishments.

An injury sidelined Ciampa just as the Dexter Lumis storyline was “heating” up, which could be a blessing in disguise. Fingers crossed for better things for the Psycho Killer when he returns.
