2. WrestleMania 3

If you haven’t watched WrestleMania 3, then it’s hard to call yourself a wrestling fan. Quite simply, this was the biggest show for what seemed like forever.

WM 3 had what Jesse Ventura accurately called, “the biggest match in professional wrestling”: Hulk Hogan versus Andre the Giant. While the two had squared off before during Hogan’s previous WWF run, they hadn’t crossed paths during his Hulkamania run. This pitted two legendary stars against each other at a time when both were still considered huge draws. And of course, we got the iconic moment of Hogan slamming Andre, something burned into every fan’s brain when they saw it.

Then we have possibly the best WrestleMania match ever, Randy Savage versus Ricky Steamboat for the Intercontinental Championship. This was a flawless, tremendous match that was built up perfectly, planned out perfectly, and executed perfectly. If you can find something wrong with this match, then you’re just a killjoy.

Also at WM 3, Roddy Piper had his first retirement match against Adrian Adonis, which also had a tremendous build-up, with Piper destroying the Adorable One’s Flower Shop set with a bat. Their match wasn’t anything special, but the crowd was way into the Rowdy Scot, who had a little help from Brutus Beefcake (another fun moment, with a face turn launching the Barber’s career).

Several of the undercard matches were average or better, making this a PPV for the ages.
