Daniel Bryan wasn't quite the cherished hero he is now back in 2011. He was popular, sure, but that acclaim hadn't yet reached the levels it would from late-2012 onwards. Back at WrestleMania XXVII, Bryan and Sheamus were looking forward to proving themselves on WWE's grandest stage.

Their disappointment must have been huge then when both were informed that they'd be working on the pre-show. As if that wasn't enough of a blow, their United States Title match would be turned into a Battle Royal when Lumberjacks surrounding the ring interfered.

This was as low as it gets for Bryan at 'Mania.

To top it all off, The Great Khali was the winner of the Battle Royal, neither Bryan or Sheamus ended the segment looking strong and their match ended up lost in the shuffle after looking so promising. Daniel wrote in his autobiography that WWE only told the pair last-minute that they weren't making the main card.
