Paying off a reality-laden storyline when he was just about still young enough to do so, McMahon took the highest profile beating possible in his WrestleMania 26 destruction at the hands (and steel chair) of Bret Hart.

The match was a regrettable calamity, but the build-up was a feast of fan service for those that had salivated for years at the prospect of seeing the venerated 'Hitman' take revenge on Vince for his callous acts.

Having made amends with Shawn Michaels earlier in the broadcast, Hart ended his monumental return to television with an in-ring showdown with a snide McMahon, who first offered contrition before hoofing him in the groin to make it clear that no apology would be forthcoming.

Vince was at his excellent best as an impenitent d*ckhead, further enraging Bret and his loyal fans that had, for so long, sought out vindication. Gifting Dave Batista a final WWE Title reign thanks to his help diffusing Hart's impending threat, Vince even lined himself up a muscled backup until the 'Excellence Of Execution' levelled the playing field with the help of John Cena.

Never managing to be as effective as a heel since, McMahon saved his final great villainous efforts for the feud that mattered most.
