Ranking Every Major Current Wrestling Storyline From Worst To Best

1. Jon Moxley Vs. The New Bullet Club

At Winter Is Coming, Kenny Omega screwed Jon Moxley out of the AEW World Championship. This was such a beautiful convergence of so many factors.

The legacy rivalry itself; AEW's clean finishes mentality and how carefully it was curated to make this transgression actually feel like one, and not merely a swerve; the placement of Don Callis on commentary, and the resulting revelation that he was in on something deeper all along...

It was magnificent, ambitious pro wrestling storytelling that conspired to break the internet in a way very little has in a pandemic era that hardly generates such earnestly-felt emotion around anything. It felt like wrestling - not an emulation to which we have to be a bit generous just to try and feel something - was back.

Its scope has extended even further upon the return of Jon Moxley. Back and baying for Omega's blood, in the sort of deft manoeuvre at which AEW excels, he was joined by Death Triangle in his mission after Omega, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows refused to stop beating the piss out of Fénix.

Spawning yet more dream matches beyond even Mox Vs. Omega III - the upcoming Beach Break six-man, Good Brothers Vs. Lucha Brothers, PAC Vs. Omega - elements of all this feel maybe a bit sudden and, in the case of PAC and Mox aligning, unfaithful to continuity.

But the physicality of these brawls is unreal. Mox hitting Omega with a more casual variation of the Paradigm Shift in a message that he's wise to Kenny's bullsh*t; Fénix straddling the guard rail after a breathtaking tope con hiro; Mox eating weapon shot upon weapon shot...

It's all so exhilarating that it allows for a perfect diversion before the rubber match.
