Ranking Every Men's WWE Royal Rumble Match Of The 2010s
1. 2010
The first match of the decade also happened to be the best. An unbelievable amount of starpower towards the end, storytelling that ripped our hearts out and a winner that not a single soul in the arena saw coming.
It's more than a match. It's a story, split into three distinct acts. The opening act tells a story of pride, with an iconoclastic CM Punk giving his sermon on the mount after getting five eliminations in only ten minutes, only to be eliminated by Triple H. Act two showed us a flurry of young talent as Cody Rhodes, John Morrison and The Miz tried their hardest to eliminate Triple H only to fail, before the 'King Of Kings' was joined by John Cena and Shawn Michaels.
Act three would prove to be the most defining one of this Rumble. When the ring was filled with stars, Shawn Michaels had to find a way to reach his goal, his one true desire - to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania. Batista, Chris Jericho, John Cena and Edge were all obstructing his destiny, and all he needed to do was to dodge the obstacles, and... he failed.
The WWE universe shared in the heartbreak of HBK as the ropes slipped from in between his fingertips, but our sorrow was short lived as we finally saw a returning Edge toss fan favourite John Cena over the top rope to cap off one of the most exhilarating returns, and one of the greatest Royal Rumbles, of all time.
