The juice was out of the Tommaso Ciampa/Johnny Gargano fruit (in their guises then, at least) by August 2018, but the pair were forced into one last battle after Aleister Black's injury ruled him out of a triple threat main event that probably would have been better than the overblown Last Man Standing finale.

A lethargic main event undercut what was otherwise one of the most satisfying TakeOvers of the bunch. Undisputed Era concluded a magnificent trilogy against Moustache Mountain, whilst Kairi Sane (briefly) found her happy ending with a rare victory over dominant Women's Champion Shayna Baszler. Velveteen Dream and EC3 wasn't brilliantly worked but was a total triumph for the confidence and success of rising star Dream, not least with "Call Me Up Vince" slapped across his a*se.

As insane as they were, they couldn't steal the show from Ricochet and Adam Cole. The pair lit up Barclays Center a year after Cole's debut with a psychologically spectacular superfight. The Undisputed Era leader claimed not be impressed by 'The One & Only' and all he was capable of, and after leveling up and still not being able to beat him, tried to leave the ring to highlight just how easy it was to make his point. Ricochet's capture hurricanrana proved him wrong and took away his beloved North American title in the process.
