The Highlights: As remarkable as Rival was, it just wasn't quite as magical as TakeOver: R Evolution, which took place two months earlier. Not only did the event see several storylines reach their climax, this show set the stage for the future of the brand with a number of up-and-comers officially solidifying their spot in NXT.

Kevin Owens' long awaited arrival kicked off the night on a newsworthy note, Finn Bálor debuted his "Demon" persona in his thrilling tag team match against The Ascension, and Charlotte and Sasha Banks took their rivalry to new heights with one of the best women's matches all year.

In a battle of best friends, Sami Zayn toppled Neville in a captivating contest to capture the NXT Championship, only to be betrayed by Owens immediately afterward. That compelling cliffhanger gave viewers something to look forward to in the months to come.

The Low Points: Baron Corbin's quick squash against Tye Dillinger (pre-Perfect 10) was uneventful, but it furthered Corbin's feud with Bull Dempsey. Likewise, the NXT Tag Team Championship match between The Lucha Dragons and The Vaudevillians was adequate, but most fans couldn't have cared less.
